WHERE AND WHAT’S AT THE CFSCHRL
The Center For the Study of Civil and Human Rights Laws (CFSCHRL) is located at 18 Grove Place, Rochester, NY. The 4000 square foot building, located at 18 Grove Place, is an especially appropriate place for a civil rights museum as it was once Susan B. Anthony’s lawyer’s (Samuel Selden) home.
The Center For the Study of Civil and Human Rights Laws has this area’s most extensive and diverse collection of media materials, historic documents, and artifacts relating to the civil and human rights struggles of mankind and the regulations, laws and court decisions which had an effect on those struggles.
The CFSCHRL also produces some of the most inspiring and informative educational exhibits relating to civil and human rights. Included among these exhibits are The Civil Rights Museum on Wheels; Billiards was more than a game to Martin Luther King: MLK Jr.‘s pool table; We Shall Not Be Moved: The story of the successful Woolworth Sit-in Movement of the 1960s; and many others.
Each of these exhibits, are described separately below. All of these exhibits are available for public and private viewing at the CFSCHRL in Rochester, NY. In fact, your school district or agency can arrange to have anyone of these powerful and educational exhibits visit your school, library, public park, or place of business. The Center For the Study of Civil and Human Rights Laws, exists to promote diversity, tolerance, and community by providing exceptional exhibitions and programs based on outstanding collections and research which explore civil and human rights violations as well as the laws, customs, and cases which can sometimes prevent those violations from occurring in the first instance.
